Do you know how android has come to this stage? Do you know what android really means? If you want to know about the history of Android then read this blog.

    At first, let's talk about the word android. The word "Android" was derived from the Greek word "andro" which means "human" and "oid" which means "look like". Thus, Android word means a human look like structure.

    And now, at first the Android OS was set to be built for digital cameras but as the market of digital camera was not enough, the developers then thought of diverting their projects to the OS for smartphones making it rival for then Symbian OS and other which was dominating the market. Then comes the role of Google which acquired the whole Android OS and every teams and then told them to built the OS as per future needs. Google then marketed the smartphone vendors by stating that it will provide a best OS for their hardware and that too free open source. As the smartphone vendor at that time were compelled to develop both hardware and software for their products and the marketing scheme of Google made them feel relief. They now only had to concentrate on hardware and leave the software parts to Google as its promise. That was the beginning and rise of Android OS for the world.

    Now, talking about the version of Android it started its version from android version 1.0 as alpha and android version 1.1 as beta which seems to be very much functioning for the touchscreen devices. And then as the developers one day were at cafe having their breakfast and they were having a chocolate dish called cupcake, they thought to make cupcake version making it version 1.5 and then donuts version making it version 1.6. And so on eclair version making it version 2.0 and amending it to till 2.1.  Then came the android version 2.2 making it froyo and 2.3 as gingerbread. And again a more version as Android 3.0 as honeycomb.

    Now, the developers thought to work in the designing phase too and then hence introduced android 4.0 as icecream sandwich and android 4.1 as jellybean and android 4.4 as kitkat.

    And again now, they developers started to work out in material design and hence introduced android version 5 as lollipop. And the rest is developed alphabetically in the name of chocolates by upgrading a version.
